LUXURY CHALET IN THE SWISS ALPINE RESORT OF VERBIER

Travel Options

Easily accessible by Air, Road and Rail, Verbier is one of the most convenient Alpine resorts to reach in terms of travel time.

    AIR

GENEVA AIRPORT is the closest to Verbier, 1 hour 30 minutes by car, although there is a small regional airport at Sion, which may be worth checking as there are occasional flights here in the winter. With the plethora of budget airlines it is possible to procure flights at good prices all through the winter. The earlier you book, though, the cheaper the flight. EASYJET or RYANAIR operate from Liverpool, Manchester, Luton and Gatwick to Geneva, FLYBE from Southampton and Bristol, SWISS and BA codeshare from all London airports including City. There are likely to be other airlines operating in the winter season, and it is worth shopping around.

TURIN AIRPORT is 2 hours away by road, and is served by Ryanair and Alitalia, and MILAN AIRPORT is 2 hours 30 minutes away by road. Both airports are also convenient for the rail system.

    CAR/TAXI

Verbier is an easy 1 hour 30 minutes drive from Geneva Airport. Several hire car companies operate from Geneva and two of these, Hertz and Avis have small offices in Verbier meaning that if you do not wish to keep the car for the duration of your stay, you can arrange to drop it off on arrival and pick one up for your return (although the chalet does have 2 underground parking spaces of its own).

Several companies operate TRANSFER SERVICES to Verbier at competitive rates and on request we can assist you with these booking arrangements.

Driving from within Europe is an easy option as there is motorway to within 20 minutes of the village. From mainland UK it is an 8-hour drive from Calais and with the overnight SUPERFAST FERRY connection to Zeebrugge driving from Scotland or Northern England is now easy. Chains are mandatory in Switzerland in the winter months.

    TRAIN

Swiss trains live up to their reputation for efficiency and there are regular DIRECT TRAINS from Geneva Airport to Martigny, then a mountain train to Le Chable from where the most convenient option would be to take the Post bus on up to Verbier; its timetable operates to coincide with the train timetable. The Post bus comes into and leaves from the central bus station in Verbier from where the shuttle will take you to the stop outside the chalet. Otherwise, you can change trains at Martigny to Le Chable, the village at the foot of the road up to Verbier, and either get a taxi to go up the hill or take the Le Chable cable car into Verbier, but ensure you check the timings first!

    HELICOPTER

Not that we’ve tried, but it may be possible to transfer from Geneva by helicopter. Let us know if you wish us to look into this.

If you have further queries regarding your travel arrangements we will be happy to offer advice where we can.
